About Us

Who is “Small on Scale”?

We're your mother, sister, best friend, father, brother (yes, men are interested in miniatures too!) ... or you!

Our members are vibrant, involved people who all share one interest in common: the love of miniatures. Some of us are skilled craftspeople; others are collectors. We all have something to share and something to learn.

Lehigh Valley Small on Scale began in 1978, when a few miniaturists who were employees or volunteers of Lehigh Valley Child Care decided that a good way to raise funds would be to have a dollhouse exhibit. To increase interest in miniatures in the Lehigh Valley, this group formed a club.

The club increased to the extent that it outgrew several locations in the area. We are currently meeting in the Red Cross Building, 2200 Avenue A, Bethlehem, Pa., at 7:00 p.m. on the first Tuesday of every month.

We are Chapter #C285 of the National Association of Miniature Enthusiasts (NAME), an organization comprising clubs in the United States and Canada.

NAME is an educational nonprofit organization operating under IRS code 509 (a) (2) with a 501 (c) (3) tax status and encourages its members to participate in educational and philanthropic activities through the use of miniatures.

Our club's purpose is to be operated exclusively for charitable and educational purposes within the meaning of the law; to stimulate and enhance the interest and understanding of the general public in construction and collection of miniatures as historical and creative forms; to provide instruction and training to those interested in miniature building and collection; to recognize outstanding achievement in creation and promotion of miniatures as an art form; and to stimulate the exchange of information between persons interested in miniature building and collection.

To that purpose stated above, the club uses the proceeds of the annual show and sale to contribute to local charities and to help fund club activities.
